The News Line: News ‘WOODLEY SHOULD RESIGN OVER GATE GOURMET’ says RMT member A team of locked-out Gate Gourmet workers campaigned on Southall High Street yesterday.

They spoke to Warish Singh an RMT member from Earls Court tube station, who said: ‘I totally support the Gate Gourmet workers in their fight to get their jobs back on their old terms and conditions and to win their tribunal.

‘At the beginning of the Gate Gourmet dispute Peter Hughes, branch secretary from Acton Town station, rang me and asked me to represent the RMT at a meeting at Southall Community Centre organised by the trade union leaders for the locked-out Gate Gourmet workers.

‘There I offered my support to the T&G leaders to help in any way by giving out leaflets or anything and not a single person contacted me.

‘I reported this to my union and they did nothing either, I even gave my name, phone number and private address and I was very upset that no one from the union leadership asked me to do anything for the Gate Gourmet workers.

‘The National Executive of the T&G should investigate what Woodley has done, Woodley is a traitor and he should resign, if he had done this in India, stopping the hardship money and telling the baggage workers to go back to work, he would never have survived.’

Locked-out Gate Gourmet worker Mohinder Virk said: ‘Today we got a lot of support on Southall High Street. We met RMT member Mr Singh, who felt the pain of the locked-out Gate Gourmet workers we have also had a lot of support from the (former) Hillingdon hospital strikers and they have shown us the way to win. We should go all round the country to win support for our struggle.’
