The News Line: News National Gallery indefinite strike
PCS strikers and their supporters on the picket line at the National Gallery on the first day of their indefinlte strike against privatisation
NATIONAL Gallery workers were out in force on the first day of their indefinite strike against privatisation and victimisation yesterday.

On the picket line outside the National Gallery PCS full-time officer Paul Bemrose told News Line: ‘This is the first day of all-out strike at the National Gallery and the members are solidly showing their opposition to privatisation.

‘Management have refused talks at ACAS and and we call on them to sit down at the negotiating table and stop playing Russian Roulette. They have provoked this dispute by bringing forward the date with which the contract with Securitas can be signed. This is a political consideration on their part.’

National Gallery striker Rod said ‘We understand that the contract has not actually been signed yet, that’s why the strike was brought forward to today, to stop it. We are making a stand to defend our wages and conditions. This issue is bigger than this strike, we are only small but we have had support from all over the country.’
