The News Line: News RMT CONTROL STAFF STRIKE ACTION
RMT Tube workers on the picket line earlier this year
LONDON Underground control staff working on the Waterloo and City line are on strike for three days, following a 100% ‘YES’ vote, for strike action, RMT announced yesterday.

The three-day strike represents an escalation in a long running battle between control staff and London Underground as the management attempts to re-grade staff. It will begin at 9.00pm on Monday September 28 and run until 11.00pm on Wednesday September 30.

RMT said: ‘The action has been forced on the union as a result of a total and abject failure by LU management to address fundamental issues around re-grading for this key group of staff and the attempt to bulldoze through changes to duties without agreement.’

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said: ‘LU management must be clear by now on our members’ legitimate and reasonable demand for re-grading. The union has reiterated that we will not accept an offer which is based on a change in staff duties or which would cause detriment to other members. Although LU has declined our request for arbitration at ACAS, they are aware that, as always, we remain available for talks to resolve the dispute.’
