NAKBA MARCH IN ATHENS
|
Palestinians in Athens climb on top of police buses and defiantly wave their flags |
Over 1,500 workers and youth marched through Athens on Tuesday evening to the US and Israeli embassies in commemoration of the Nakba and against the Zionist killings in Gaza.
Demonstrators shouted ‘SYRIZA (the ruling party) is an accomplice to Zionism – war to the imperialists’ war’. Palestinian students who joined the march, climbed up on the rooftops of police buses, positioned in front of the embassies’ buildings, waved Palestinian flags and shouted slogans against Zionism and for the Palestinian revolution.
Last week, while the Zionist army was killing Palestinian men, women and children, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, to sign up agreements on sea exploration for oil and gas. US, British and French oil companies are to carry out the drillings in the eastern Mediterranean but this is opposed by Turkey.
