Tamils continuing their demonstration outside Parliament yesterday against the slaughter of Tamils by the Sri Lankan armed forces

‘We are not going to give up!’, declared the comrades of 23-year-old Parameswaran Subramaniyan who after 18 days on hunger strike is too weak to talk.

British Tamil Students vowed yesterday to continue their fight against the genocidal Sri Lankan regime.

Student leader Nila said: ‘I think the MPs have not done enough because they call for a ceasefire. Sri Lanka does not respond and they leave it.

‘Our comrade Subramaniyan, lost both his parents in the genocide on April 5 by the Sri Lankan military and now he is very strong.

‘Today is the 18th day of his hunger strike for all five of our demands to be met by the British government.

‘Britain has a great responsibility for sorting things out in Sri Lanka.

‘There are 300,000 Tamils here in Britain, all British citizens, whose families and relatives are being brutally suppressed in Sri Lanka.

‘We cannot study, because of this struggle against genocide. We will have to repeat our studies next year.

‘The British government have the power, why can’t they do something. Is it because they are unwilling?

‘The way the Sri Lanka military are killing our civilians is out of hand.

‘David Miliband should impose sanctions on Sri Lanka.’

‘Our demands are: 1. Immediate and permanent ceasefire.

‘2. Food and medical aid be allowed to reach civilians immediately with international monitoring committees and to allow mercy missions to Vanni.

‘3. UN secretary Ban Ki-moon and UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown must arrange to meet our representatives.

‘4. Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are our sole representatives and the UK government should lift the ban on the LTTE.

‘5. The UN should call for an immediate referendum for Tamils regarding whether they want a separate nation or to remain in Sri Lanka.

‘Otherwise there will be a hunger strike till we breath our last breath.’
