Gate Gourmet locked-out workers were yesterday leafleting at Heathrow Airport

GATE Gourmet locked-out workers are getting great support for their march through Hounslow on Saturday.

Saturday’s march assembles at 1.00pm (see advert on this page) and finishes with a rally at Hounslow Civic Centre.

Jaggi Vadgama, chairman of the TGWU at Travel London buses said: ‘These fellow members are victimised by a multi-national company using its power and might to try to subdue its workers.

‘This is their normal working practice as the situation in Germany makes clear.

‘The union should stand by its members and should be supporting them through this difficult time.

‘The union should continue hardship payments to the locked-out workers until the issue is settled.

‘The amount of money we are talking about is quite negligible for the union.

At Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 yesterday, locked-out workers handed out hundreds of leaflets for their Saturday’s march and got lots of support.

BAA worker, Jeremy Stevens, said: ‘I’m pulling out of the T&G and joining the PCS.

‘I’ve got no faith in the leadership of the T&G.

‘The T&G should support these members through their employment tribunals and restore their hardship payments.

‘Our jobs at BAA are under threat.

‘We’ve all got to reapply for our own jobs.

‘That’s why I’m joining the PCS, I don’t trust the T&G leadership to protect me.’
